WEST PALM BEACH, FL - One person was killed and two others were injured in a collision along Florida's Turnpike Tuesday night, WPEC reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene on the turnpike's southbound lanes near the exit for PGA Boulevard at about 11 p.m.  State troopers said a pickup truck had stopped on the shoulder of the highway, and a woman who had been a passenger in the pickup was standing behind it.

At that point, a 34-year-old man driving a southbound SUV struck the woman and then crashed into the rear of the pickup.

The woman, a 53-year-old West Palm Beach resident, was pronounced dead after being taken to St. Mary's Medical Center.

The 53-year-old pickup driver was seriously injured in the wreck, and the SUV driver was critically injured.

The FHP is investigating the accident.
