Four Rescued from the Water After Restaurant Deck Collapses

South Florida Boaters came to the rescue of at least four people after a section of a local restaurant suddenly fell into the water.

WSVN.com reports that the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Flip Flops Dockside Eatery, located in the 3000 block of Northeast 32nd Avenue. Several people, many from out of town, were celebrating a 50th birthday party when the restaurant’s deck collapsed.

“We were just standing on the dock, and it broke, and three of us jumped off, and [a guest] slid in, and then her husband slid in after her, and our friends slid in after him, and it took them a while to pull her out,” said witness Keira Anderson.

Local boaters rushed to the victims’ aide, pulling them to safety.

Two of the victims suffered injuries, with one being transported to Holy Cross Health for treatment of a cut on her back.
