MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – New details have emerged regarding a car crash that killed three people in Southwest Miami-Dade Tuesday morning, according to WSVN.
This is an update to a previous story.
One of the victims of the accident was identified as Karina Diaz, a preschool teacher at the Creative Learning Center. Diaz, her husband and her mother were in a Kia that was struck by a speeding Range Rover in the area of Southwest 92nd Avenue and 72nd Street shortly before 6 a.m. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver of the Range Rover had refused to stop when a police officer tried to pull him earlier for speeding on the Palmetto Expressway. The driver took off and ended up crashing into the Kia after exiting onto Sunset Drive.
The driver of the Range Rover was hospitalized at Kendall Regional Medical Center. He was believed to have been driving under the influence at the time.
