Man Killed by Propellers after Falling off Yacht Near Monument Island
A man who fell off a yacht near a Miami area island has died, authorities say.
Local10.com reports that the man fell off a yacht called “Miami Vice” as the vessel sailed near Monument Island. Authorities recovered the remains of the victim, identified as 25-year-old Raul Menendez of Hialeah, after a dive team searched the area of the incident.
Menendez was killed Sunday after he either fell off the yacht or jumped off. He was struck by the vessel’s propellers and killed at about 4:45 pm authorities reported.
20-year-old Mauricio Alvarez was piloting the ship at the time of the incident.
The ship has been seized and impounded as authorities continue to investigate.
