News: Tri-Rail train hits abandoned vehicle in Fort Lauderdale, injuring 6
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Police said six people were injured in a railroad accident in Fort Lauderdale Saturday morning, NBC Miami reports.
The incident took place in the vicinity of NW 8th Street and NW 21st Terrace, where a Tri-Rail train hit a vehicle that was left abandoned on the tracks and was unoccupied.
Rescue crews responded after the crash happened at about 6:12 a.m. and found six people with minor injuries, who were taken to an area hospital. Two other people were treated at the scene.
Fort Lauderdale police and the CSX Railroad are investigating the incident, which caused a partial derailment of the train.
Tri-Rail service was affected, with the northbound tracks closed for repairs and service southbound at reduced speeds.
