News: Teenage boy riding bicycle hit by Miami Beach police vehicle

MIAMI BEACH, FL – An accident involving a police car injured a teenage boy in Southwest Miami-Dade County Thursday night, reports WSVN.

The incident took place in the eastbound lanes of Quail Roost Drive near Southwest 127th Avenue at about 8 p.m. The 15-year-old boy was riding his bicycle when he was hit from behind by a marked Miami Beach police vehicle driven by an off-duty officer. 

The teen was rushed to Kendall Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The bicycle did not have reflective lights and the teen was not wearing reflective clothing, according to detectives.  The Florida Highway Patrol said the officer did not see the boy prior to the crash.
