News: Teen bicyclist fatally struck by pickup at West Palm Beach intersection
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A collision in West Palm Beach killed a 17-year-old bicycle rider, according to WPEC.
Police responded to the scene on Jog Road near Okeechobee Boulevard after the incident occurred Thursday night at about 10:30 p.m.
Police said the teen was riding his bicycle across Okeechobee Boulevard in a crosswalk when he was hit by a westbound pickup truck. The rider was thrown from the bike and was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
According to investigators, the 17-year-old bicyclist crossed into the path of the pickup truck, which had a green light at the time. It is not believed that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
