News: Man fatally struck by car in Sunny Isles Beach after getting out to check engine
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FL – Police said a driver who stopped after having car trouble in Sunny Isles Beach was fatally struck by another vehicle Friday night.
NBC Miami reports the incident occurred along the 163rd Street Bridge shortly before 11 p.m. Investigators said the driver had gotten out of his car to check the engine when he was hit by the other vehicle. The impact caused him to fall over the bridge and into the water.
Rescuers on boats and helicopters searched the water until the man’s body was found several hours later. His identity was not immediately released.
The driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene, police said.
