News: Hollywood man charged with DUI in crash that killed bicyclist

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Authorities arrested a man for allegedly driving under the influence in a fatal crash in Broward County on Sept. 4.

According to WPLG, 21-year-old Lidor Lahiani of Hollywood faces several charges, including DUI manslaughter and DUI crash with property damage.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said Lahiani was driving a Hyundai Sonata east on West State Road 84 in Weston at about 10:35 a.m. when he drove off the road, hit a construction barricade, re-entered the road and crashed into a man riding his bicycle.

The bicycle rider died of his injuries Oct. 27 at Broward Health Medical Center. His name was not released.

Detectives said Lahiani stopped after the crash, then continued eastbound for a short time before returning to the scene. It was later determined that impairment along with reckless driving were contributing factors to the crash, the sheriff’s office said, and a warrant was issued for Lahiani’s arrest.
