NORTH MIAMI, FL – A firefighter with the city of Hialeah was killed in an accident outside his home Friday afternoon, reports WSVN.
The victim was Chris Villa, who served 24 years with the Hialeah Fire Department. The incident occurred while he was repairing a fence at his home at Northwest 5th Avenue and Northwest 135th Street in North Miami.
Investigators said the driver of a van lost control after colliding with a car, and struck Villa and the fence. Villa was able to push his wife out of the way before he was hit, according to police.
