News: Driver facing multiple DUI charges over crash at Hollywood restaurant

HOLLYWOOD, FL – A driver is facing multiple charges over a crash last month that injured several people at an outdoor dining area in Hollywood.

This is an update to a previous story.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports 45-year-old Shana Soto turned herself in on Tuesday after a warrant was issued for her arrest.  The incident occurred Nov. 2 as Soto was driving a Honda CR-V in the area of Harrison Street and South 20th Avenue at about 9 p.m. Investigators said she swerved to avoid a Hollywood Fire Rescue engine truck with its emergency lights flashing. Soto’s vehicle struck a curb before going onto a sidewalk and hitting a table outside The Bang Shack restaurant on South 20th Avenue.

Two women and one man who were sitting at the table were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, where one of the women was treated for severe injuries. Soto was also hospitalized.

She now is facing numerous charges stemming from the crash, including DUI causing serious bodily injury, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury, and three counts of DUI causing property damage.
