SUNRISE, FL – Two teenagers died following a car accident in Sunrise Tuesday night, WSVN reports.
Police said an 18-year-old driving a Lexus crashed into a canal in the area of Northwest 12th Street and Flamingo Avenue at about 10:30 p.m.
The driver was killed in the crash. A 17-year-old boy who saw what happened jumped into the canal to try and help, but first responders had to pull him from the water and he died later after being taken to an area hospital.
Police believe the driver was lost at the time and veered into the canal. It was not yet known whether anyone else was in the car.
