News: 18-year-old suspect arrested in deadly hit-and-run in Central Broward

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Authorities say they have made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in unincorporated Central Broward last month.

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, 18-year-old Janiya Davis is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

The incident happened June 28 in the 3100 block of West Sunrise Boulevard shortly after 1:15 a.m. The sheriff’s office says that Davis was driving a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian crossing the eastbound lanes of West Sunrise Boulevard. She then allegedly fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

Detectives later located the vehicle at an address in Pompano Beach and arrested Davis, who is also charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
