Yesterday we blogged that automaker Ford is recalling hundreds of thousands of Explorer model vehicles due to a dangerous defect. Now, more information about the recall has become available.
BusinessInsider.com reports that over 800,000 Ford Explorer model years 2013-2017 are being recalled, as well as some 2020-2021 F-350 Super Duty and Lincoln Aviator models.

The reason for the recalls is that the vehicles have a defect that can cause them to suddenly malfunction, reducing the vehicles’ steering and increasing the likelihood of a crash.
The danger relating to the defect is not just hypothetical; to date, at least six people have reported injuries stemming from the defect.
This recall comes after Ford issued a recall last month for 1.2 million Explorer vehicles for a separate defect, and another recall in May for over 600,000 SUVs.
