A Filipino member of a German cruise company reportedly died while aboard the ship on which he worked earlier this month.
The victim, 39-year-old Syne Diente reportedly died from cardiac arrest on January 12. His cabin mate called for help, which the website Inquirer.net says came quickly, but it was too late.
Nearly every year cruise ship crew members die while onboard the ships on which they work. In fact, in recent years that have been a number of incidents in which multiple crew members have died during safety drills.
For example, in 201 five cruise ship crew members were killed during a safety drill after the lifeboat in which they were overturned and trapped them underneath.
