Child Services Investigating After Child Breaks Leg At Daycare

A Broward County family is accusing a local daycare of severely injuring their child.

WSVN.com reports that two-year-old Ron Jay Smith was under the care of the daycare at First Church of the Open Bible in Lauderdale Lakes when the injury occurred. The report says that Smith was playing with other kids, jumping up and down when he landed awkwardly on his right foot, breaking it. But his family is not convinced.

“They showed me the X-rays and his femur bone was like this [putting two fingers together], and then the X-rays showed that it broke in two,” said Ron’s mother Nakeendra Tillman.

When Ron’s grandmother went to pick him up she noticed he had a bow in his leg and that he was moaning in pain. Though the daycare had not noticed his injury and hence had not sought medical attention for him, Ros’ family brought him to Plantation Hospital where doctors treated him for a broken leg.

Because there are no cameras in the classroom Ron’s family is not able to verify exactly what happened to him.

They have, however, involved authorities, and Child Services is now investigating.
