University of Florida Student Killed in Hit-and-Run

A hit-and-run crash left a University of Florida student dead on Wednesday night.

Gainsville.com reports that the female student was walking near the parking lot for the O’Connell Center in the vicinity of 2000 West University Avenue at about 10:49 p.m when a car driving west struck her.

Authorities pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Authorities believe that the vehicle that struck the student may have been a BMW sedan. The vehicle did not stop, as required by Florida law. It was last seen going north on Northwest 20th Drive.

The report did not identify the victim.
