Two Remain Hospitalized Following Fort Lauderdale Boat Explosion

Two people remain hospitalized following a boat explosion in Fort Lauderdale two days ago.

HeraldMedia.com reports that a group was filming a music video when the 41-foot Wellcraft vessel they were on caught fire and exploded. Authorities are still not sure exactly what caused the blast, but according to those involved the explosion happened suddenly.

“There was no noise or anything, just out of nowhere, boom,” said cameraman Abraham Alejandro. He had been filming the music video when the explosion occurred. “It was just a huge explosion that went off,” he said.

At least 13 people were hurt in the explosion. Seven people were taken to the hospital following the blast, and five of them were treated and released. Two of the victims were seriously injured and remain in treatment at Miami’s Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
