News: Woman, 77, struck and killed by car in Dania Beach

DANIA BEACH, FL – The Broward Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating a crash that killed an elderly pedestrian in Dania Beach last week.

BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene on South Federal Highway Thursday just after 2 a.m. Investigators said 77-year-old Doris Sandman of Dania Beach was crossing on foot near the 400 block of the roadway when she was hit by a southbound Kia Forte driven by a 21-year-old Hollywood man.  Sandman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said she was walking in an undesignated crosswalk area in an unknown direction at the time she was struck.

Detectives with the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
