DEERFIELD BEACH, FL - A teenage motorcycle rider was killed in a collision with a car in Deerfield Beach, authorities said.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the incident happened Sunday at Northeast 3rd Avenue and Northeast 42nd Street shortly after 8 p.m.

Investigators said the driver of a Toyota Camry was slowing down to make a right turn from Northeast 3rd Avenue onto Northeast 42nd Street. A 16-year-old riding a Qipai SS3 motorcycle in the bicycle lane failed to slow down to allow the Camry to complete its permitted turn and hit the rear passenger door of the car, the sheriff's office said.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead after being taken to Broward Health North.  The 28-year-old woman driving the Camry was not injured.

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating the crash.
