News: Search on for driver who left scene after deadly I-95 accident

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A search is underway for a driver who left the scene of a crash on Interstate 95 that left another motorist dead.

According to WPEC, the incident occurred early Tuesday on I-95 northbound near the 45th Street exit in West Palm Beach shortly before 2 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was trying to push his disabled SUV out of the road by steering the vehicle from the driver’s side door.  A Loxahatchee man driving north on I-95 struck the SUV from behind, causing the first driver to fall to the ground.

He was then struck by a third vehicle as he tried to get up.  That vehicle did not stop after the crash and kept going north on I-95.  The man who was hit, a 23-year-old man from Herndon, Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are trying to track down the hit-and-run vehicle, which is believed to have major damage to the headlight assembly on the right side.
