News: Police chase ends in rollover crash on I-95 in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, FL – At least eight people were hospitalized after a stolen vehicle being chased by police crashed on Interstate 95 in Hollywood on Wednesday, NBC Miami reports.
The pursuit of the Infiniti SUV began in Fort Lauderdale following a report of an attempted burglary at about 7 a.m. at a home on Northeast 28th Avenue.
Police said the suspects took off after being spotted, and struck a bicyclist while they were fleeing. The chase then continued onto the southbound lanes of I-95, where the SUV eventually collided with several other cars and overturned near the exit to Pembroke Road. Five juveniles inside the vehicle were all taken into custody.
Those suspects and at least three other drivers were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital with injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening. The injuries to the bicyclist were also said to be non-life-threatening.
The southbound lanes of I-95 were closed for several hours in the area of the crash while the scene was being cleared and law enforcement authorities investigated.
