KEY LARGO, FL – State troopers say a 68-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV while walking in the Florida Keys.
The Miami Herald reports the fatal accident happened Sunday on U.S. 1 in Key Largo at about 7:10 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was walking across the highway at mile marker 104 when he entered the path of a northbound Ford Expedition. The driver, 50-year-old Emory Jose Fernandez of Miami, swerved but was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian.
