SUNRISE, FL - Authorities have arrested the suspected driver in a hit-and-run crash that took place in Sunrise on February 18, 2021.

According to NBC Miami, 62-year-old Edwin Vallejo was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious injury and reckless driving.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Vallejo was driving an SUV north on the Sawgrass Expressway when he drove onto the shoulder, pulled in front of a motorcycle and applied his brakes.

The motorcycle rider, Beth Ann Charlton, collided with the SUV.  She fell off her bike into the roadway, and was transported to an area hospital with injuries.

The FHP said Charlton managed to describe Vallejo and give the license tag number of the SUV when she spoke with investigators.

He was arrested on Wednesday and was being held in the Broward County Jail on $5,100 bond.
