DEERFIELD BEACH, FL - The Broward Sheriff's Office announced it has made an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that injured three people in Deerfield Beach early Wednesday.

This is an update to a previous story.

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit said 45-year-old Eric Meyer was driving a Jeep Wrangler east on Southwest 10th Street sometime before 12:43 a.m. when he rear-ended a Toyota Camry that was also eastbound. The Camry driver and two passengers were hospitalized with injuries that were described as life-threatening.

Investigators said Meyer fled the scene after the crash but was later identified as the driver of the Jeep.

He has been charged with five counts of failure to stop/remain at the scene of a crash with serious bodily injuries, six counts of reckless driving causing serious bodily injuries and one count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
