News: Collision between car and 18-wheeler on U.S. 27 in West Broward kills 2, injures 2

WEST BROWARD, FL – Authorities said a crash in West Broward Thursday involving a car and a tractor-trailer left two people dead.

According to WSVN, the incident happened in the northbound lanes of U.S. 27 two miles north of Interstate 75, where a sedan was hit by a tractor-trailer at about 3:20 p.m.

Two people were extricated from the car and were pronounced dead at the scene.  Two other people were flown to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol, Broward Sheriff’s Office and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units were at the scene of the wreck, which closed U.S. 27 in both directions.

Drivers were advised to take Snake Road or State Road 80 for western Palm Beach County to get around the crash site..
