News: 3 dead in collision near Vero Beach shopping plaza on U.S. 1

VERO BEACH, FL – Three people were killed Saturday morning when two vehicles collided in Vero Beach, reports WPTV.

The accident took place near a Publix shopping plaza on U.S. 1 North at about 10:10 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a Dodge van was making a left turn into the shopping plaza when the Dodge entered the path of a Kia sedan that was headed north in the outside lane on U.S. 1.

The Kia crashed into the right side of the van. 

Three people were pronounced dead after being taken to Lawnwood Medical Center. They were a 58-year-old Vero Beach man who was a front seat passenger in the Dodge, and two people who were passengers in the Kia, a 93-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman who were both from Fort Pierce.

Three others injured in the crash were reported to be in stable condition, including a 7-year-old passenger in the van.

The FHP is continuing its investigation into the wreck.
