WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Two people were killed in a collision between a car and a scooter in West Palm Beach on Saturday afternoon, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The two victims were on a scooter riding in the southbound lanes of South Military Trail when the accident occurred just after 2 p.m.  The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said a Nissan Versa struck the scooter from behind, knocking both the driver and passenger off the scooter and onto the pavement.

The two were pronounced dead a short time later after being taken to St. Mary's Medical Center. They were identified as the scooter driver, 56-year-old Francisco Amador of West Palm Beach, and the passenger, 65-year-old Daysi Milagros Gomez Infante of Miami. The driver of the Nissan, 79-year-old Karen Frances Stiles of West Palm Beach, was not injured.

Investigators said the scooter was going south within the outside lane of the roadway at the time it was hit.
