More Information on Hit-and-Run Crash that Killed HS Football Star

More information has become available about the high school football star who was recently killed in a Miami area hit-and-run.

Local10.com reports that 17-year-old Justin Rivera died after a driver struck him while he was going for a jog Friday morning on Southwest 152nd Street.

Police have identified the driver of the car as Maria Rodriguez, and accuse her of failing to stop at the scene of a traffic crash. Florida law requires drivers to stop after having been involved in a traffic collision.

Authorities were able to track Rodriguez down and identify her vehicle as the likely car that struck and killed Rivera. Apparently, when questioned Rodriguez admitted to having been involved in the crash.

Police arrested Rodriguez in connection with Rivera’s death, and she has since bonded out of jail.
