Man Killed in Collision With Brightline Train In Pompano Beach

2022 has seen numerous Brightline train collision incidents, with some of them being fatal. Monday tragedy struck again when a Brightline train struck and killed a driver in Pompano Beach.

WSVN.com reports that the crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. near Sixth Street in the northbound lanes of North Dixie Highway. 27-year-old Jacob Bresnahan was driving a pickup truck in the area as a train approached.

Brightline officials say that gates were down and that Bresnahan drove around them just before the collision. Following the crash first responders transported Bresnahan to a local hospital where he later died.

People who live in the area insist that they have seen multiple Brightline-related crashes this year. “Right here in this area, within the last year or so, we’ve had at least three accidents, you know, train accidents,” said Montez Lynette.

The WSVN.com report says that nearly 60 people have been killed in Brightline train collisions since 2017.
