A South Florida woman was killed in a boat crash in the waters of Miami-Dade over the weekend.

MiamiHerald.com reports that the victim was 28-year-old Claudia C. Contreras. Contreras died on Sunday night when she was riding in a boat that struck a mile marker in the Intracoastal in Miami-Dade.

Apparently, at least three other people were in the 21-foot boat at the time of the crash. 29-year-old Benjamin Mantel had been piloting the vessel and suffered only minor injuries. Two other passengers were also injured in the crash and were transported to Aventura Hospital and Medical Center for medical treatment. Authorities have not commented on their conditions.

Florida Fish and Wildlife is investigating the tragedy. As of now, Fish and Wildlife has not commented on whether alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
