A South Florida woman pleaded guilty on Friday to killing three youth soccer players when she crashed into them as they were walking to a bus stop in North Miami two years ago.
MiamiHerald.com reports that Mariam Coulibaly had likely been drinking at a club where she worked as a dancer before leaving the club and later crashing into three teenage soccer players. The boys were on their way to a soccer match when they were killed.
Coulibaly pleaded guilty to three counts of DUI manslaughter and three counts of vehicular homicide and faced up to 90 years in prison. But due to her having accepted responsibility for her actions and shown remorse, the Miami Herald reports that Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez sentenced Coulibaly to 15 years in prison in 15 years probation.
The judge also ordered that on the anniversary of the boys' death Coulibaly must write a letter to her victims and their families expressing her feelings.
