Serious Car Crash Claims Life of Miami-Dade Police Captain

A serious car crash on Sunday left a Miami-Dade police captain dead and two other people injured.

NBC Miami reports that the crash occurred in Cooper City at about 1:00 p.m. in the vicinity of the 11800 block of Griffin Road. Though authorities have not said exactly what happened during the crash, the report indicates that rescue personnel found one vehicle flipped over on its roof and the other vehicle on fire.

Miami-Dade Police Captain Tyrone White was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. Rescue workers airlifted two other victims to a local hospital for treatment. Their medical conditions are unknown.

Captain White was the father of James White, running back for the New England Patriots football team. The Patriots are scheduled to take on the Seattle Seahawks Sunday night. White will reportedly sit the game out.
