Retired ABC Correspondent Dies In Florida Crash

A retired correspondent for ABC News was killed in a crash while riding his bicycle in Florida Monday. News4Jax.com reports that 77-year-old Tim O’Brien was involved in a crash near Mickler’s Landing in Ponte Vedra Beach.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was traveling on the left of State Road A1A at about 1:30 p.m on Monday when the truck slowed to make a left turn at Mickler Road. As the truck attempted to negotiate the turn it struck a car traveling south on A1A. The crash caused the car to go off the road onto the right shoulder and strike O’Brien, resulting in fatal injuries.

The drivers involved in the crash only suffered minor injuries, News4Jax.com reports.

O’Brien worked for ABC News for over two decades, covering the Supreme Court and legal topics.
