Hickey Presents Papers At The Winter Convention Of The Association For Justice

On February 13, 2013, John H. (Jack) Hickey spoke and presented a paper on “How to Interview Your Client to Get the Story on Damages” at the Winter Convention of the American Association for Justice in Miami Beach, Florida The American Association for Justice has been described as the leading organization for plaintiff’s attorneys in the United States.

Hickey also spoke and presented a paper on “Maritime Wrongful Death and The Death on the High Seas Act” at the Florida Justice Association’s Workhorse Seminar in Orlando, Florida on February 20, 2013. The Workhorse Seminar has been described as an “intense” education session which provides attorneys with critical information and training in a changing world.

We are also pleased to announce that an article authored by Hickey entitled “Injuries on Deck” was published in Trial Magazine’s August 2012 issue. In the article, Hickey shares some of his 32+ years of experience and knowledge which was gained while practicing maritime law and handling major cruise line cases.

Hickey is a graduate of Florida State University (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and of Duke Law School. He is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer by The Florida Bar and by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Hickey is Past President of the Dade County Bar Association and currently serves on The Florida Bar Board of Governors. He is rated A/V by Martindale Hubbell and has been named by his peers to the “Legal Elite” in the area of aviation, admiralty, and maritime by Florida Trend magazine, as a Top Lawyer by the South Florida Legal Guide, and as a “Super Lawyer” by Superlawyer.com.

For the first part of his career, Hickey was a defense lawyer for cruise lines, railroads, and insurance companies. For the past 17 years, Hickey has been on the other side, representing people in personal injury and wrongful death cases in the areas of cruise line claims (admiralty and maritime), products liability, and premises liability. He also practices complex commercial litigation. Hickey has won many multi-million dollar jury verdicts.
