Plantation Officer Dies In Wreck Just A Week And A Half After Retiring

A Davie police officer has died in a vehicle crash, just 10 days after retiring.

Local10.com reports that 50-year-old Dexter “Batman” Riley had been working on the force for 27 years. He had retired on December 1 and then died in a motorcycle crash on December 11.

In a statement on the department’s website, it said that “It is with heavy hearts that we share news of Officer Riley’s tragic passing this past weekend.”

Riley apparently gained the nickname “Batman” because he would dress up as batman several times per year, including Halloween, and visit sick children in hospital.
