NHTSA Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Tesla

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating a crash involving a Tesla that killed two people on Wednesday.

Local10.com reports that the crash occurred at about 2 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 75 when the Tesla suddenly and unexpectedly ran off the road, went across a parking lot, and struck a Walmart tractor-trailer.

The occupants of the vehicle, both from Lompoc, California, were both killed in the crash.

Authorities are not sure if the Tesla’s automated driving system was in operation at the time of the crash.

The NHTSA has been investing fatal and nonfatal crashes involving Tesla’s auto-drive system for months.
