News: Troopers searching for driver in fatal hit-and-run on Florida’s Turnpike

PALM BEACH, FL – Florida state troopers are trying to track down the vehicle and driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

WPEC reports the incident happened near mile marker 99 in the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike at about 1:30 p.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was standing next to his car on the shoulder of the highway after getting a flat tire when he was struck by another vehicle. The victim, a 63-year-old Palm Beach resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The FHP said the driver involved is believed to have been pulling a trailer or driving an RV.  Debris was gathered from the crash scene that came from the wall or door of a trailer or RV.  Investigators believe the vehicle that struck the man sustained damage on the right side.

Anyone with information regarding the incident was asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
