News: Police searching for driver in Hollywood hit-and-run that injured scooter rider

HOLLYWOOD, FL – Police in Hollywood are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a scooter rider Tuesday morning, WPLG reports.

A woman was riding a scooter west on Johnson Street when she was struck by a vehicle making a turn shortly before 6 a.m.  The woman sustained what were reported to be severe leg injuries.

Footage from a nearby surveillance camera indicated the vehicle involved was a white Jeep that was going east on Johnson Street.  The driver pulled in to a gas station after the crash and then drove away north on North 56th Avenue, police said.

Investigators said the vehicle they are looking for was believed to be a 2006-2016 white Jeep Compass with unknown tags.
