News: Police release surveillance video to help track down driver in fatal Miami hit-and-run

MIAMI, FL – Police investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash in Miami have released surveillance video they hope will help them solve the case, according to WSVN.

The video shows the aftermath of the collision that happened February 13 at Northwest 7th Avenue and Northwest 36th Street shortly after 2 a.m.

Police said the driver of an Infiniti was speeding while going north on Northwest Seventh Avenue and collided with a Chevrolet Impala at the intersection.  The impact caused the Impala to hit a northbound Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Impala, 38-year-old Lester Gomez, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car was seriously injured.

Police said the driver of the Infiniti got out of the car and fled the scene but returned later with other people, who were captured on video rummaging through his car before leaving the scene again.

Police hope the release of the video will help them track down the driver and his accomplices. Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact the Miami Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.
