HOLLYWOOD, FL - A pedestrian died after being struck by a Brightline train on the tracks in Hollywood Monday afternoon, WPLG reports.
Authorities are investigating the accident, which happened in the area of North Dixie Highway and Taylor Street at about 12:10 p.m. The victim's identity was not immediately released.
Traffic was blocked along Filmore Street, where the train had stopped on the tracks following the fatal incident.
It happened a short time after Brightline officials and law enforcement authorities had held a press conference to announce a new safety grant and the installation of more electronic signs to warn people of approaching trains.
