News: Driver dead after car crashes into West Palm Beach canal

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Authorities said a single-vehicle car accident in West Palm Beach Monday morning left a driver dead, according to WPBF.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene following a report of the crash that occurred along South Congress Avenue at about 6 a.m.

According to an eyewitness account, a driver who had exited a nearby parking lot crossed all lanes of South Congress Avenue, struck a curb, went down an embankment and then plunged into a canal, where the car became submerged in water.

The 41-year-old driver was removed from the vehicle by rescuers, and was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  The victim’s identity was not released.
