News: Detectives seek public’s help in Oakland Park hit-and-run that injured toddler

OAKLAND PARK, FL – The Broward Sheriff’s Office said it is seeking the public’s help in tracking down the driver who struck and injured a toddler in Oakland Park last week.

In a news release, the BSO said a 2-year-old child was hit by a car in the area of Northwest 43rd Street and Northwest 5th Avenue Thursday evening shortly after 6 p.m.

The child was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Oakland Park District are now searching for the driver, and the sheriff’s office released surveillance video obtained near the crash that shows a burgundy vehicle fleeing the scene.

Anyone with information on the driver or vehicle was asked to contact Oakland Park police or Broward Crime Stoppers, or submit a tip through the SaferWatch App.
