News: Detectives investigating West Park hit-and-run that killed 77-year-old driver

WEST PARK, FL – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred last month in West Park.

The sheriff’s office has released details of the collision that happened Nov. 22 on South State Road 7.

According to investigators, 77-year-old Michael Dodsworth of Pembroke Pines was driving south in a Chrysler 200 at about 11:59 p.m. when he tried to make a left turn into a business plaza. The Chrysler entered the path of a northbound Chevrolet Silverado, resulting in a collision.  Dodsworth and two passengers in his vehicle were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, where Dodsworth was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot after the collision and is still being sought, investigators said.

Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run or the identity of the driver was asked to contact the Broward Sheriff’s Office or Broward Crime Stoppers.
