News: Crash involving several vehicles snarls traffic on Palmetto Expressway

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – Drivers faced huge traffic backups in Miami-Dade County Tuesday morning following a multi-vehicle crash, reports NBC Miami.

At least four vehicles were involved in the wreck on the Palmetto Expressway near Northwest 154th Street.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a Ford sedan lost control in a northbound lane, crashed into a median wall and then went over the wall.

That vehicle collided with three cars driving in the southbound lanes, causing one of them to catch fire. Several people were hospitalized with injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening.

Authorities shut down all southbound lanes and two northbound lanes of the highway, leading to backups for miles through the area.  All lanes reopened shortly after 8:30 a.m.
