News: Collision in Dania Beach leaves 1 driver dead, 1 injured

DANIA BEACH, FL – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said two vehicles were involved in a fatal collision in Dania Beach last week.

The accident happened March 1 at the intersection of Sheridan Street and Dixie Highway at about 1 a.m.

BSO detectives said 21-year-old Anderson Christopher Delinois of Miami was driving a Toyota RAV4 westbound on Sheridan Street while the driver of a BMW 328i was stopped at the intersection. When the arrow for eastbound traffic turned green, the BMW began making a left turn to go north, and was struck on the passenger side by the RAV4 in a T-bone style collision.  Investigators said the RAV4 was seen headed west at a high rate of speed without lights prior to the crash.

The driver of the BMW, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead.  Delinois was critically injured while his passenger suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Both were hospitalized.

The BSO is continuing its investigation into the crash.
