POMPANO BEACH, FL - The Broward Sheriff's Office has identified the motorcyclist killed in a collision with a bus last week in Pompano Beach.

This is an update to a previous story.

The BSO said the victim was 19-year-old Phillipe Madeira of Boca Raton.  According to investigators, Madeira was riding a Kawasaki EX300-B motorcycle south on North Powerline Road Sept. 6 shortly after 1 p.m.

Madeira crashed into the passenger side of a Broward County TOPS Paratransit bus that was heading in the opposite direction and making a left turn onto Northwest 21st Street.

The bus came to a stop and Madeira was ejected from the motorcycle.

Madeira was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The bus driver was not injured, and no passengers were on board.

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives suspect that excessive speed on the part of the motorcyclist may have contributed to the collision.
