News: 2 dead, 4 injured in multi-vehicle accident on Florida Turnpike

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL – Two men were killed Thursday morning in a multi-vehicle crash that shut down a stretch of the Florida Turnpike, according to WPEC.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a tractor-trailer lost control while going north on the turnpike near Indiantown Road in Palm Beach Gardens at about 6 a.m. The truck driver slammed into a pickup truck in front of him, which caused a front-loader tractor being carried by the semi to detach and land in the turnpike’s southbound lanes.  The driver of a southbound pickup then slammed into the tractor.

Two men who were in the southbound pickup died in the crash. The victims, ages 34 and 27, were Port St. Lucie residents. Their names have not yet been released.  Two other men in the pickup were seriously injured.  The driver of the other pickup and the tractor-trailer driver sustained minor injuries.

Both sides of the Florida Turnpike were closed for hours in the area of the crash for the cleanup and investigation.
