News: 19-year-old driver facing charges in fatal Fort Pierce collision

FORT PIERCE, FL – Police have arrested a young man who was involved in a deadly collision with another driver in Fort Pierce in February.

According to WPEC, 19-year-old Ryan Hester will be facing charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicle homicide for the Feb. 8 crash in the 1200 block of Indian River Drive.  His father is Chief Deputy Brian Hester, the director of Law Enforcement for the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Ryan Hester was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck south shortly before 5:30 p.m. when he crossed the median and struck a northbound Nissan Altima head-on. The driver of the Nissan, a 32-year-old Fort Pierce woman, was pronounced dead at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

A warrant was issued by the Fort Pierce Police Department for the arrest of Ryan Hester, who turned himself in on Wednesday to the St. Lucie County Jail.
