While cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, MSC, and Costa are canceling China-based cruises in the wake of the coronavirus contagion, other cruise lines are deciding to change their itineraries, but not cancel their vessels’ voyages.
One of the few cruise companies that have decided to continue cruising in the Asia Pacific despite the threat of coronavirus, is Holland America. CruiseIndustryNews.com reports that, for an upcoming 14-night sailing, the company changed the Westerdam's final port of call to Yokohama, Japan from Shanghai, China as a result of the coronavirus contagion.
The report says that the Westerdam will leave on February 1 from Hong Kong, and travel to “Manila, Kaohsiung, Keelung, Ishigaki, Naha, Nagasaki, Busan and Sasebo” before concluding in Yokohama on February 15.
The change will cause many passengers to have to rebook their airfare.
